Finding the Books You Want Online Possible or Not

The presentation of Hamlet's Denmark is first seen in the opening scene of Hamlet where the two guards enter and the first thing that is said is "who is there?" This immediately sets the mood of the whole play and to a certain extent what kind of state Denmark is in which is in a state of high alert, also the darkness and the mystery of who is there sets an ominous tone for the play and also sets an ominous mood for Denmark. It also suggests that the opening scene of Hamlet is set in the dark of night as they are unable to identify one another and so are on edge as to who the other person could be exactly.

Wedding Disc Jockeys: How To Select The Right One

I can't remember if it was "Time Has Come" or the whole "Taking The World By Storm" album that was originally entitled "Pictures". Such details get lost or change over time and it usually takes some prompt or other to jog the memory and even then, such memories are prone to inaccuracy or intentional distortion.

The path of learning guitar is full of ups and downs. Everyone has had these down moments, when you're comparing yourself to all these guitar virtuosos out there, questioning your guitar skills and talent, and hesitating if you should continue playing or if you should give up, because it all seems just like a waste of time Well, let me tell you something: whatever you are learning in life, there will always be people that are better than you. John Mayall Music

Historically some attribute this position to Alexis Korner as he was the founder of perhaps the first British Blues band, however, in terms of influence, there is no doubt that the title belongs to John Mayall - The Father of British Blues. In 1963 I saw the American Folk - Blues Caravan when it visited Britain.

The Best Blues Songs Ever

The title of one of Mayalls early releases and a subsequent album, John Mayall "Looking Back" provides an appropriate title for this mini retrospective of one of the most influential Blues men of the post war era. Born in Manchester 1933, John's father was an accomplished jazz guitarist, and from a young age exposed John to American Blues players. John taught himself to play guitar, piano and harmonica.

What Is Rockabilly Music?

It is truly hardly arguable: The Beatles remain to be the most loved, most renowned, and most emulated rock band of contemporary music. No other band has made such a tremendous impact to the music world like the quartet of John, Paul, George and Ringo have. The first band to ever use modern audio equipment in their recordings, they paved the way for newer artists and ultimately they have created the most concrete definition of a "rock band".

Choosing the Right Mobile Disco for Your Event

In the early 1970s a wave of southern rock groups including the Allman Brothers, the Marshall Tucker Band, ZZ Top, the Charlie Daniels Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd began to break the chart dominance of British Invasion bands. These southern rockers, with their harder edge and deep roots in the blues, were unlike more traditional country rock bands like Poco, the Flying Burrito Brothers and New Riders of the Purple Sage. The new southern rock anthems were full of macho stereotypes, many involving drinking and fighting.

Good for her!

Zombieland and Pineapple Express actress Amber Heard officially came out of the closet at GLAAD's 25th Anniversary Celebration Saturday night.

She, along with her partner Tasya van Ree, attended the event and spoke openly about her choice to come out. She declared that she didn't want to be "a part of the problem" by staying in the closet and said she was honored to have the priviledge of presenting the Founder's Award to GLAAD/LA Founder and First Executive Direcotr Richard Jennings.

Coffee Colored Guitars for Kids A Great Way to Start Learning

Music has come far in the past few millennia, starting as basic rhythms and melodies lonely hunters sung to themselves as they stalked the night's dinner. Over time, more elements merged and combined to create sounds to intrigue and impress listeners. Now, music is as cross-pollinated as the deepest daughter plants of a series of hybrids-and it is in this world that the contemporary classical composer finds himself.

The Lenco iPod Tower Latest Review

One of the greatest things about the age of wireless Internet is the recent democratization of the world of music. It used to be that in order to discover new music, the average person had to listen to the radio or, eventually, watch music channels like MTV. This used to be a more enjoyable experience, as radio stations were individually owned and DJs were generally obsessed music fans who had a large degree of control over what new music to play. These days, however, the vast majority of radio stations are owned by multinational media conglomerates, and playlists are almost without fail predetermined in corporate offices and broadcast around the country without alteration. There are even some radio stations, such as the ubiquitous JACKFM, that have scrapped the DJ format all together, instead pre-programming playlists and broadcasting them across the country. And music television stations were universalists from the get-go: there was never an amazing about of consumer or individual control over what got played on the video channels.

The Elvis Costello Discography Late 70s Highlights

For the best part of his career, Paul McCartney has been rightly celebrated as a wonderful multi-instrumentalist (encompassing bass and electric guitar, keyboards and drums), an implausibly gifted tunesmith, up there with almost any other notable composer of the past 100 years and a force for good across the world, through his music, promotion of vegetarianism and his charitable enterprises. However, with more specific regard to his music, he has not received as much recognition for his lyric writing as I believe he should have.

Yesterday was a totally chilled out day. Plans to hang out last night got pushed back to Wednesday and that left me with a very sunny and hot day here in LA to enjoy all by myself. I have just started to recover from my illness of late so it was nice to just relax and chill out … in the heat ;)

I got out of the house for a bit to soak up some sun, which was really nice. I toyed with the idea of hanging out at the beach but the traffic was a huge deterrent. I really just laid low, kept my Monday pretty simple. Tonight, tho, I am SO excited to FINALLY get to see Thor! I’ll be seeing the movie at a screening tonight and I’m just way too excited. Popcorn, candy and the god of Thunder? Yes, please!!

Happy Tuesday!!

Yesterday was another rainy, cold day here in SoCal so for the most part David and I stayed in doors and under the warm covers. We did venture out last night to hang out with our dear friend Angie and her beautiful daughter Kendall who we hadn’t seen in a few weeks. Angie and I had been talking about hanging out for a while so last night was the perfect opportunity.

We made our way to Sherman Oaks, CA to meet up with Ange and Kendall at The Cheesecake Factory for a bite to eat. Kendall snapped this amazingly cool photo of me on her mom’s iPhone so I thought I would share it with all y’all:

It’s a shame that it was so wet and cold yesterday because we didn’t get much chance to hang out as much as we would’ve liked. It was really great getting to catch up with Angie … I think we are planning on another hang out session later this week. As a former DJ, Angie has got a LOT of vinyl records so we are planning a record party at my place. And speaking of … my new record player has been getting a lot of use in the past few days … I managed to pick up a bunch of really amazing records … including Mantaray by Siouxsie Sioux:

I’m not sure how long this love for vinyl phase will last but I hope for a long time. One of my New Year’s Resolutions is to slow down and appreciate music more, on vinyl as much as possible. I haven’t really spent any real time getting to know albums like I used to. In this age of downloading tracks in seconds and then moving on to the next batch of songs, I have been very lax in getting to know albums. I can’t even tell you the last time I took the time to learn the lyrics of an entire album. Slowing down with vinyl will hopefully help me get back into the practice of appreciating music again.

It’s the first Monday of the New Year, I hope it’s been a good one for you thus far!!

The paparazzi are out in full force in Cabo San Lucas this week, seeing as the place is jammed with celebrities. Surprisingly though, we've only really been seeing shots of LeAnn Rimes and her fiancee Eddie Cibrain.

Huh! How peculiar!

At any rate, the pair seem to be enjoying their getaway. Notice the big smiles as they walk along the beach, hand-in-hand, soaking in all the attention rays.

Ah, guess there's no harm in showing off the love - or their sick swimsuit stomachs!

The Dog Days of Spring in Nova Scotia

No other artists have been so closely identified with each other as Paul Gauguin and Vincent Van Gogh. Their often volatile relationship has been dramatized in both books and Hollywood movies, marked by Vincent's cutting off his ear, an incident that seems to be universally know, whatever your background in art. However, they always remained friends, until Van Gogh's death by suicide, bonded by their love of art and Vincent's memorable sunflowers that haunted Gauguin for the rest of his life.
